Antibes

Antibes is the Côte d'Azur’s second largest town with a population of 75 000 in the winter and almost twice the number in the summer. Yet Antibes remains a small and friendly town, where you will find your bearings easily. Plus, it’s just minutes away from Cannes and Nice.

Situated in Eastern France and surrounded by fortified walls, the city embodies the Côte d’Azur’s historic and Mediterranean heritage. You can’t help but be charmed by its Old Town with its cobbled streets, its small craft shops, its many boutiques and sun kissed Antibean sea front.

The French Riviera

With 300 sunny days per year thanks to its Mediterranean climate and 120 kilometres of sand and pebble beaches, it is not difficult to see why the Côte d’Azur is one of the world’s most popular destinations.

The Côte d’Azur is also a region steeped in history, culture and tradition, which you can see for yourself by taking a walk through the villages in the countryside, a trip to one of the many museums or a visit to the old parts of its cities.

And let’s not forget all the events and concerts: The Nice Carnival, the Juan-les-Pins Jazz Festival, the Cannes Film Festival and many more.

Night life

There are numerous nightlife options for visitors to Antibes. The two most active neighbourhoods are the Old Town and the Juan les Pins.

Old Town
Somehow the small port town of Antibes has managed to maintain its historic features and local characteristics while also accommodating hoards of tourists in search of fun after the sun goes down. Antibes is a bit quieter than Juan-les-Pins, but still has a decent number of pubs, piano bars and even a couple of nightclubs. Piano bars seem to be the most popular type of hangout, followed by the Colonial Pub, a favourite of British expats and tourists alike.

Juan-les-Pins
This is the hub of nightlife in the Antibes area. The most fashionable nightclubs are there and are open late to cater to the partying crowd. A few piano bars and British pubs offer something milder for those looking for a quieter night out. There is also a number of special outdoor events with music concerts and fireworks during the summer months.

Teachers

You will be taught by experienced teachers specialising in the teaching of French as a foreign language and with all the necessary qualifications to guarantee high quality of language teaching. They will help you improve your oral and written communication skills and introduce you to the French culture.

"Le Château" Building

"Le Château" is a stunning Provençal building in a quiet area close to the town centre and student residences. The classrooms are spacious and equipped with the latest audiovisual aids. There is a great view of Antibes’ port and the Baie des Angles (Bay of Angels) from the school’s terrace.

Closed during the Christmas holidays (19th Dec-2nd Jan 2010) and on French national holidays.

"Le Port" Building

"Le Port" school is perfectly situated in the heart of the old town’s pedestrian area and 30 m from the port. Proximity of shops, restaurants and bars makes this location very convenient for our students.

"Le Port" welcomes students when "Le Château" is fully booked, mainly at Easter and in September.

Important information

Your first day will be spent on getting to know the school and the team, visiting Antibes and doing evaluation tests. There are no lessons on the first day.

The morning will be devoted to welcoming new students, followed by a presentation of the school and the welcome meeting where you will receive information about your stay. In the afternoon, after the tour of Antibes, you will take a placement test.

Student Residences

Garret Residence
The residence consists of 10 studio apartments located in the peaceful "Le Château" school itself, close to the town centre and the beaches. You can eat at the self-service restaurant (open at midday during the week), walk through the gardens or visit the solarium for a great view of Antibes.

Castel Arabel Residence
This residence of 50 rooms and studios is located in a quiet part of town just minutes away from Juan-les-Pins, famous for its nightlife. There is a sun terrace, a common TV room, a small swimming pool as well as a snack bar, the "Castel café". Castel Arabel accepts students from April to October

Sun Holidays Residence
This residence of 26 rooms is located in the same area as Castel Arabel, just a few minutes walk from the shops, the beaches, the restaurants and the nightclubs. You’ll have access to a shared kitchen, a TV room and the charming garden surrounding the residence. Limited number of parking spaces is available at additional cost.

Host Family

All the families have been working with the school for a long time and are visited on regular basis. They are happy to share their everyday lives with you and make you feel at home for the duration of your stay. The host family will take care of your return transfer to and from the Nice International Airport or Antibes train station.
